Winter Seminar in Texas

2013 Group Photo from the Austin Seminar

Arizona-based instructor Tom Sylvester attended the WinterCamp seminar held recently at the National Ving Tsun Organization (NVTO) headquarters in Austin, Texas. During the 3-day event, Tom attended a 6-hour instructor training course on Friday, followed by the 8-hour general seminar which took place on Saturday and Sunday.

During the course of the seminar, the nearly 40 students and instructors received instruction and correction from Dai-Sifu Webb and senior members of the NVTO team which included Sifu Robert Jacquet (4th degree), Sifu Kenny Felton (4th degree), and Sifu Robert George (4th degree). The event was typical for one of the big seminars at the NVTO HQ, well-attended and enjoyed by all. For those advanced practitioners working towards instructor ranks, the bulk of Sunday consisted of testing hands-on with several senior instructors. All elements of their training were put to the test including forms, chi-sau, and fighting ability.

Late Sunday, a grading ceremony was held for the students who tested and advanced in rank. Our very own Tom Sylvester survived a rigorous test and was promoted in rank to 1st Degree Instructor. Awarding the certificate were Dai-Sifu Webb and Tom's own teacher, Sifu Jacquet. Ving Tsun Arizona is proud of Tom and his accomplishment, congratulations!
